Renovating After Disaster
This circa-1890 home sustained extensive water damage on three floors. The homeowners were abroad when a friend called in a panic after finding water raining down throughout the Winchester home. The homeowners immediately called CCI President Bill Farnsworth who rushed over and shut off the water main, but the damage was extensive across all three levels of the home. The team honored the history of the home, focusing on “restoring” rather than “renovating.” Knob and tube wiring was replaced and horsehair ceilings and walls were removed. Wherever possible, the original intricate woodwork was either salvaged or painstakingly recreated.
