A Modern Makeover for Repeat Clients

When long-time clients Tony R. and Mireia C. returned to Custom Contracting for another project, the team was thrilled to help them take their home’s exterior to the next level. After previously renovating the kitchen, family room, and two bathrooms inside, this time the focus shifted outward. We renovated the entire exterior of the home, completely transforming the front facade and turned the backyard into a poolside oasis.

Updating the Front of the Home

The homeowners wanted a cleaner, more contemporary look that would match the updated interior. To achieve this, the CCI team removed the old bow windows at the front of the house, carefully reframing the wall.

“We wanted to make it more modern. The two big sets of windows in the front were curved which didn’t work with the new design. But the windows were fairly new and it would have been a waste to throw them out. CCI came up with a brilliant solution. They suggested  reusing the windows rather than replacing them.” – Mireia

The original windows were bowed, and the siding and stonework looked dated before the renovation. CCI removed the glass windows, reframed the wall and then put the windows back in place.

New siding, trim, and garage doors give the exterior a crisp, modern profile, while more substantial columns and a striking new front door with window above enhance curb appeal. The result is a seamless blend of texture, color, and form that feels both current and cohesive.

Creating a Backyard Oasis

The original backyard featured a pool, but there was no shade and no great place to sit and spend time together.

Out back, the goal was to make better use of the space surrounding the pool — an area that had potential but lacked comfort and shade. The addition of a new cabana with pergola, which features an extendable sunshade, integrated lighting, and a ceiling fan, make the area functional in all kinds of weather.

The covered cabana transitions into a pergola and then a sunshade that extends part way over the pool. In the image above the sunshade is not extended, while below it is extended out over the pool.

The new cabana section of the patio is the perfect place to find shade in the heat. Lighting and a ceiling fan add to the ambiance.

On the other side of the pool the original deck was rebuilt with multiple levels, creating distinct zones for entertaining. The first landing features a casual area with bar seating overlooking the pool, then ascends to the upper deck. The upper deck is a large entertaining area with plenty of room for grilling and dining.

Note the door handle on the wood “wall” on the left. Behind that wall is a ton of usable storage – it’s like a secret shed that’s been built -in under the deck.

The bar seating “middle deck.” Lighting is integrated into the stair risers making it safe to navigate as the sun sets.

The upper level, which connects directly to the kitchen and the  interior living space, makes an ideal area for outdoor meal prep and dining.  The lower level offers bar seating for dining while relaxing poolside. Cable railings add a modern touch that ties beautifully with the home’s refreshed architectural lines.

“The backyard turned out better than we imagined! It really is a backyard oasis that’s perfect for entertaining. Working with Custom was a great experience – again!” – Mireia
