In the charming town of Weston, this lovely home underwent a stunning kitchen renovation that transformed into a modern culinary haven. Homeowners Mike and Carolyn had lived with the original kitchen for years—one that Mike himself had designed and built when the home was first constructed. But it was time for a change.
Being a former Arlington resident, Mike had long been familiar with Custom’s work and reputation. So when the couple decided to remodel, Custom was their first call.
A Vision Comes to Life
From the start, this was a project built on clear vision and strong collaboration. Bill from Custom worked closely with Mike and Carolyn to sketch out a preliminary layout. “Mike and Carolyn had a pretty clear vision of what they were hoping for,” Bill said. “We were able to move through the preliminary designs without a hitch.”
Once the layout was determined the next step of the process was for Custom’s in-house kitchen designer, Jane, to make sure every design detail was addressed – from cabinetry to drawer pulls. “It was Jane’s job to take the concept and make it both beautiful and functional—and we think she nailed it!”
The result: a fresh, contemporary kitchen with all the right touches.
Built With Trust
Bryan, Custom’s lead carpenter, oversaw the project with his usual care and attention to detail. “The project went very smoothly,” he said. “Mike and Carolyn were great to work with.” Most of the time, the homeowners were away and trusted Bryan and the team to carry the project through.
Mike once remarked, “My wife, Carolyn, was there today and says it is coming along beautifully.” Bryan made sure the renovation was completed in time for the start of the school year. “I was happy to make that happen!” he added.
A Kitchen They’ll Love for Years to Come
The new kitchen balances beauty and functionality in a way that honors the home’s original character while embracing modern design. As Mike simply and perfectly said:
“Beautiful kitchen!”
Design Details That Shine
The new kitchen includes:
- Bertch cabinetry in classic white for a clean, elegant look with ample storage
- A large center island that invites gathering and functionality plus offers seating for casual dining
- Thermador range, steam oven, and beverage refrigerator for a top-notch cooking experience
- An integrated office nook for a practical and cozy workspace
- An updated casual dining area that flows seamlessly with the new kitchen design
Before and After

Before The original kitchen featured dark cabinetry, granite countertops, and an appliance layout that no longer worked for the homeowners.

After The newly renovated space boasts bright Bertch cabinetry, a spacious center island with seating, elegant brass accents, high-end appliances and eye-catching pendant lighting. The counters are topped with “Calacatta Miraggio Cove” MSI Quartz from Stone Surfaces.

Before The original banquet seating followed the line of the windows around the table but made it impossible to sit at either end of the table comfortably.

After This change to the banquet seating was simple but makes the space far more functional. Today, the homeowners have chairs at either end of the table rather than angled seating under the windows.

The classic white tile backsplash is timeless and practical – perfect for over the new Thermador stove. Meanwhile the kitchen office area got a refresh with updated cabinets that match the kitchen.
